Made to move: The lightweight but robust nature of this table means it can be picked up and moved about easily and safely, which is particularly useful for this piece as the Foxley’s square design means as you can simply add two or more together to create a greater table surface should you require additional seating. The top and base can be separated and rebuilt easily for transportation and allow easy repainting and repair on the piece throughout its life.
Made to share: The square shape of this design gives the most practical option for maximising useful table space when dining, there are no lost comers as there would be with a circular design. The legs are positioned right into the corners to not only ensure plenty of room for your legs but also greater stability of the table. The minimal overhang of the top also ensures there is little to no chance of any wobbly table issues (a renowned issue with bistro tables of old).
Made beautiful: Though this table is created with a very simple clean styling, the scooped out apron detail on the sides adds both a practical element, allowing the table greater flexibility for use with carvers or larger chairs, and also an aesthetic dimension. The moulded profile of this scoop elevates this simple table into an elegantly designed piece.
Made to last: We work hard to ensure every element of every piece is as considered as far possible. This table showcases one of our key Gather design elements, the natural wood foot detail. A routed section a little way up the base of the leg demarks where the paint finishes. The bottom area of the table leg is then always left in the natural oil finish. This is a deliberate decision to ensure the most easily damaged and marked part of the table can always be quickly and simply repaired and reoiled.
A matter of balance: Every leg is fitted with our simple but ingenious levelling corks. This help protect the table leg from damage, the floor from any possible marks and scratches and offers a quick and simple adjusting solution for uneven floors. Whilst most manufacturers use hard plastic feet to this end, we knew there must be a better way. Henry’s cork and penny solution is one of our proudest innovations – a simple, sustainable solution that will work forever (and is of course much more fun to replace!)
