Made strong: The waste from the creation of the circular tabletop on the Hendra is then reused to create elegant, Victorian inspired, arched leg supports. By building these into additional stretcher rails on the underside of the table, with traditional mortice and tenon joints, this eliminates any strength and stability issues that round tables can sometimes struggle with, whilst also adding a stunning architectural quality to the design.
Made to tread lightly: The Hendra features our signature tapered fine square legs which not only give it a sense of lightness and elegance but are also a practical solution as they leave a more generous seating space around the table and remove unnecessary weight from the piece.
Made to repair: The Hendra always comes with our signature natural foot detail whether you choose painted or natural finish. A routed section a little way up the base of the leg demarks where the paint finishes. The bottom section of the table leg is then always left in the natural oil finish. This is a deliberate decision to ensure the most easily damaged and marked part of the table can always be quickly and simply repaired and reoiled.
Details that make the design: The Hendra has distinct V grooves that run through the tabletop and also on the leg supports. In the 18th and 19th
centuries, V-grooves were particularly common in farmhouse and rustic tables, helping to reinforce the handmade quality of pieces and prevent warping. This detail aligns the Hendra with movements like Shaker and Arts and Crafts, which valued simplicity and functionality.
A matter of balance: Every leg is fitted with our simple but ingenious levelling corks. This help protect the table leg from damage, the floor from any possible marks and scratches and offer a quick and simple adjusting solution for uneven floors. Whilst most manufacturers use hard plastic feet to this end, we knew there must be a better way. Henry’s cork and penny solution is one of our proudest innovations – a simple, sustainable solution that will work forever (and is of course much more fun to replace!)
A moveable feast: The Hendra's legs are designed to be removed from the top and supports for convenient transport and can be quickly reattached to the leg supports when reassembled.

Named after the historic Cornish Hendra Woods near Ladock this table was born from an almost Arthurian vision. The concept of a round table has always been regarded as the fairest seating arrangement, with no hierarchy or leader. This resonates deeply with the Gather vision of collaboration and our belief in a sense of community, and so the Hendra table was born.
Round table production is traditionally far more wasteful with excess materials than square or rectangular ones. Hendra solves this by completely repurposing the cut away corner elements to create beautiful arched leg supports that give the table its amazing strength and rigidity.
Available in a natural ash finish or fully painted with just the natural ash foot detailing, this table comfortably seats four to six, with room to accommodate more when needed and works beautifully with our Kiln Dining and Kiln Carver chairs.
